If you’re planning a baseball trip to North Carolina, you might have the top-tier ballparks in Charlotte and Durham on your list. There are several other parks that you should strongly consider, however — including the outstanding one in Greensboro.

First National Bank Field opened in 2005 under the name First Horizon Park. One thing that you’ll quickly notice upon visiting is this facility doesn’t feel two decades old. It has been beautifully maintained over the years to offer a like-new feel for fans. The park has an official capacity of 7,499, which is small enough to have an appealing, intimate feel, but large enough to perhaps make you think you’re watching baseball at the Double-A or even Triple-A level.

Most fans enter the park through either the Plaza Gate or the Bellemeade Gate, both of which are on the first base side. Upon walking through to the concourse, you’ll have a choice of continuing toward the right field foul pole or making your way behind home plate. If you choose the former route, you’ll see a children’s play area at the end of the concourse, a wedge-shaped grass berm, and several tables and chairs that offer a great view of the visitor’s bullpen. You can even follow the concourse behind right field, but it doesn’t wrap 360 degrees around the ballpark. Instead, you can walk to center field, and then turn around.

When you walk toward home plate, you’ll find a large and impressive team shop and several concession stands that serve some North Carolina specialties as well as standard ballpark fare. Along the third base side, you’ll enjoy checking out the Bud Light Grandstand Bar, which is a free-standing structure that has a variety of beverages on tap. Move around the left field foul pole, and you’ll eventually make your way to the left field grass berm. There’s a pathway behind the left field concourse that you might not notice at first, but it can offer a quiet moment if you need to make a phone call during the game.
