Ballparks built in the 1980s and early 1990s can fall victim to a handful of drawbacks — they’re often bigger than they need to be, devoid of character and have cookie-cutter designs. Prince George’s Stadium isn’t the most unique park you’ll ever encounter, but it’s a nice place to watch a ballgame. With a capacity of 10,000, it’s the biggest park in the Eastern League but it doesn’t feel excessively large.

Prince George’s Stadium has a single bowl of seating that’s separated by a continuous cross-aisle and divided into three price points — two of the sections are filled with box seats and the third is a general admission bleacher section. The suite level contains a number of suites, as well as the Diamondview Restaurant located directly above and behind home plate. The press box area is not at suite level; instead, it’s at the top of the 200 Level seating behind home plate, which allows fans to watch the announcers as they call the game.

Most parks have some form of kids’ play area, usually with inflatable attractions. Prince George’s Stadium goes a step further with its fully functional merry-go-round, located in the kids’ area down the first base concourse. There are a handful of other games for the young and young-at-heart, but the merry-go-round steals the show. Down the third base line, there’s a covered group picnic area that is a perfect spot if you visit the ballpark as part of a large group. Another key attraction is the lighthouse in the right field corner area, which makes a great photo op.

The dimensions of the field are 309 feet to left field, 405 feet to center field and 309 feet to right field and in its history, it’s played host to a number of notable events. It was the site of the Eastern League All-Star game on two occasions, the U.S. Congressional baseball game, Allen Iverson’s charity softball game and many others. When the Baysox are on the road, part of the ballpark’s parking lot is used as a drive-in movie theater.
