One of the best things about a visit to Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium is that long before the ballpark’s gates open, there are plenty of things to do. If snagging a ball during batting practice is a goal, head to the area beyond the outfield fence and see how many balls you can manage. While back in this area, you can watch the visiting team’s pitchers warm up in the bullpen.

If you’re the type of person who would rather walk around exploring the sights, you’ll be busy here. The entire Ripken Academy complex is open to fans, so take some time to walk around and enjoy the sites. Regardless of the time of your visit, it’s likely that at least one youth baseball game is taking place at one of the diamonds. Whether it’s hosting a game or not, make sure to check out the biggest diamond on the complex, Cal Sr.’s Yard. It’s the site of the International Ripken World Series, is lit for play at night and seats 2,000 fans. It’s truly unlike virtually any other youth facility you’ll come across.

When the gates to Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium open, you’ve got a few choices. Take some time to browse the team shop, which is located to your immediate right upon entering. It’s the largest team shop in the New York-Penn League and features not only IronBirds items, but also Ripken Academy clothing and a wide variety of souvenirs and memorabilia signed by the Ripken family and other baseball greats.

The Open Air Cafe is straight ahead after you enter through the ballpark gates, and Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium has an open concourse down each base line, dotted with vendors and concession stands. The Bo Brooks Crab Shack and Party Pavilion are located at the end of the first base concourse, and are accessible via stairs and ramps.
