Detroit is no different, and like many other cities, you’ll progressively pay more to park as you get closer to Comerica Park. One smart option is to stay at any of the hotels downtown that are within walking distance of the ballpark. Leave your car at the hotel and take a short walk or taxi ride over to the game and you’ll have a few extra bucks in your pocket at the end of the day. The Tigers offer a wide range of official parking options for fans, ranging from $5 to $25. The latter might be expensive, but it puts you directly adjacent to Comerica Park. The swankiest (if you can use that term to describe any type of parking) is the Tiger Garage, located on the northeast corner of the ballpark. Parking here costs $25, but the perk is that after you leave your vehicle, you can get to the park by crossing a pedestrian bridge that runs straight from the garage to the ballpark. The other $25 lots surround Comerica Park, but if you don’t mind walking a block, you can easily park for $20. Walk another block or two away from the park and you’ll find $10 and $15 parking.
For the cheapest spot to park, consider the $5 lot at the corner of Grand River Avenue and West Elizabeth Street. This lot is five blocks from the park, but if you don’t mind the walk, you can probably put the money you save you good use at the game. As you get farther away from the ballpark, you’ll even see free parking. Don’t be tempted to use the free, unsupervised lots – there are tons of stories online about people having their cars broken into.
