You don’t quite need to go on a fast before your visit to Comerica Park, but the emptier your stomach, the more room you’ll have to load up on the park’s varied fare. Of course, deciding what to eat depends on your tastes.
If you can’t quite wait until the park opens, Leo’s Coney Island Detroit has access from outside the park and is open two hours before the game begins. The extensive menu is highlighted, of course, by Coney Island hot dogs served in a variety of ways.
Once you’re inside Comerica, a smart place to visit is the Big Cat Court on the first base side behind Section 119. In addition to its famous carousel, this area features a number of concession stands guaranteeing you won’t leave hungry. In addition to standard ballpark fare, look for Mexican and Asian food concessions, ice cream, freshly squeezed lemonade and a Little Caesars – fitting, given that the Tigers are owned by Mike Ilitch, founder of the pizza chain. Sure, you might have had Little Caesars a bunch of times in your life, but it’s neat to enjoy a slice at Comerica Park, given the Tigers/Ilitch connection. In addition to its Big Cat Court location, Little Caesars is also available near sections 115, 137, 217, 323 and 334. An additional highlight of the Big Cat Court is the variety of hot dogs (Chicago style, Coney Island, etc.) at the Hot Dogs & Fries stand.
Other Comerica Park concession highlights include Sliders (Section 103), which sells sliders, burgers, hot dogs, wings, garlic fries and onion rings and Brushfire Grill (Section 131), featuring burgers, turkey legs, kielbasa, sausages, peanuts and veggie options. If you’re thirsty, check out the Frozen Daiquiris stands (sections 133, 141, 330 and the Big Cat Court) for beer and a variety of colorful frozen daiquiris.
