There’s nothing better than the long ball, and the 2023 Major League Baseball season saw plenty of them.

In this list, we’re counting down the longest home runs of the 2023 MLB season, as per Statcast. This list features some usual suspects, a former American League MVP who is in the twilight of his career, and a trio of Rockies. (Videos appear courtesy of MLB.)

Here’s a look at the longest home runs of 2023 in Major League Baseball.

10 (t). Ryan Mountcastle — 472 feet

Ryan Mountcastle hit 18 home runs for the Orioles in 2023, and it was his 14th of the season that flew the farthest. Facing Houston’s Framber Valdez on August 8, Mountcastle drove a hanging curveball 472 feet to left-center field. The baseball landed on the concourse behind the bullpens and was the longest home run hit at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in ’23. Mountcastle’s home run swing had an exit velocity of 113.1 mph.

10 (t). Josh Donaldson — 472 feet

Former American League MVP Josh Donaldson has six career seasons with at least 25 home runs, but after failing to reach the Mendoza Line in 2023, it’s unclear how long his big league career will last. Still, Donaldson knocked 13 home runs in ’23, including 10 with the Yankees. His farthest of the season was a 472-foot blast hit off Hogan Harris in Oakland on June 29. The baseball left Donaldson’s bat at 112.3 mph and landed deep in the left-center field seats.

10 (t). Nolan Jones — 472 feet

Nolan Jones played more than 100 games in 2023 for the first time in his young career, and didn’t disappoint at the plate. The left-handed hitter had 20 home runs, including several of the tape-measure variety. His fourth of the season was particularly memorable — a 472-foot shot at Coors Field against San Diego’s Brent Honeywell on June 11. The home run, which left Jones’s bat at 111.6 mph, reached the upper deck at the Denver ballpark and gave Colorado a walk-off win.

8 (t). Ryan McMahon — 473 feet

With 23 home runs in 2023, infielder Ryan McMahon led the Colorado Rockies in long balls. His 22nd of the campaign, hit on August 28, was the most impressive. McMahon drilled a slider from Atlanta’s Bryce Elder into the bullpens in right-center field. The 473-foot homer left McMahon’s bat at 109.7 mph, and was the third-longest home run hit at Coors Field in ’23.

8 (t). Austin Riley — 473 feet

Austin Riley hit 37 home runs for the Braves in 2023, and none traveled farther than his first of the campaign. The April 3 home run came at Busch Stadium off a fastball from Jake Woodford. Riley crushed the pitch with an exit velocity of 113.3 mph, driving it to the top row of seats in left-center field. The baseball traveled 473 feet and was the longest home run of ’23 at the St. Louis ballpark.

7. Travis d’Arnaud — 474 feet

Braves catcher Travis d’Arnaud gave the Truist Park faithful plenty to cheer about during a June 16 contest against the Rockies. With a 2-0 hitter’s count, d’Arnaud got an elevated fastball from Dinelson Lamet and pounded it with an exit velocity of 109.6 mph. The baseball soared all the way to the upper rows of seats in left-center field, landing 474 feet from home plate. It was the second-longest home run at the Atlanta ballpark in 2023.

6. C.J. Cron — 479 feet

First baseman C.J. Cron has hit long bombs at many parks around the big leagues, and always seems to make highlight reels for his blasts at Coors Field. His fourth home run of 2023 was his longest — a 479-foot shot that came against Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas. The deep home run left Cron’s bat at 109.2 mph and landed on the concourse in left field. Only one home run at Coors Field in ’23 traveled farther.

5. Jarred Kelenic — 483 feet

Only four home runs flew at least 440 feet at Wrigley Field in 2023, and Seattle’s Jarred Kelenic hit the longest of the four by a good margin. The memorable homer came on April 12 against Julian Merryweather. Kelenic reached down low to connect with a fastball and lifted the baseball 483 feet into the upper part of the bleachers in straightaway center field. The home run had an exit velocity of 111.7 mph and was 29 feet longer than the second-longest homer at Wrigley in ’23.

3 (t). Nolan Jones — 483 feet

Coors Field sees its share of tape-measure home runs, but the longest blast at the Denver ballpark in 2023 belongs to Nolan Jones. He smashed a slider from Logan Webb, sending the baseball into the second deck above the bullpens in right field. The June 7 blast was Jones’s second of the season and had an exit velocity of 114.2 mph.

3 (t). Kyle Schwarber — 483 feet

Kyle Schwarber and his Phillies teammates came up just short of earning a World Series berth, but the outfielder’s 47 home runs in 2023 were a career best. His 45th home run, hit on September 18 at Truist Park, is one that he’ll likely remember for a long time. Atlanta’s Michael Tonkin served up an elevated slider that Schwarber smacked 483 feet, driving the baseball over the Coors Light Chop House in deep right field. The home run left the slugger’s bat at 113.9 mph.

2. Giancarlo Stanton — 485 feet

Although significant injuries have nagged him in recent years, there are few big leaguers who can hit baseballs as far as New York’s Giancarlo Stanton. The slugger surpassed 400 career long bombs in 2023. His longest of the campaign was a towering shot on April 2 in the Bronx. Stanton drilled a slider from San Francisco’s Ross Stripling 485 feet into the deck below the video board in center field. The thunderous home run had an exit velocity of 117.8 mph, which is tops on this list.

1. Shohei Ohtani — 493 feet

Superstar Shohei Ohtani arguably made more headlines than any other big leaguer in 2023, so it’s only fitting that he hit the longest home run of the MLB season. Ohtani hit the memorable long ball at home on June 30. The 493-foot round-tripper was his 15th home run of the month, bringing him to an even 30 home runs before the calendar turned to July. Ohtani blasted the record-setting home run off Arizona’s Tommy Henry. The slugger connected with an exit velocity of 115.1 mph and sent the baseball deep into the seats in right field. In addition to being the longest home run of 2023, the blast is the longest at Angel Stadium in the Statcast era.
