Visit Guaranteed Rate Field on the South Side of Chicago, and you’ll likely hear fans referring to this ballpark by such names as New Comiskey and The Cell — a pair of terms that reflect the park’s names during the first part of its life. Regardless of what it’s called, the ballpark has played host to some memorable home runs over the years.

In this list, we’re counting down the 10 longest home runs at Guaranteed Rate Field as of the conclusion of the 2022 season. It’s important to note that these home runs are only from 2015 onward, when MLB’s Statcast began to officially track the distance of each MLB home run. This list includes a handful of ChiSox sluggers, a long home run from a record-breaking season and one player’s first big league home run. (All videos appear courtesy of MLB.)

Here’s a look at the 10 longest home runs at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago.

10 (t). Avisaíl García — 454 feet

Known for his long blasts throughout much of his career, outfielder Avisaíl García has top-10 home runs at several different parks in the big leagues, including Rogers Centre, American Family Field and Comerica Park. The slugger gets our Guaranteed Rate Field list started as part of a four-way tie for 10th spot. García’s shot came on August 10, 2015, against Matt Shoemaker. The home run left García’s bat at 110 mph and flew 454 to left-center field. It was the slugger’s 10th of the season. (No video available.)

10 (t). Domingo Santana — 454 feet

Outfielder Domingo Santana has played in Japan since 2021, but he left his mark on Guaranteed Rate Field in what ended up being the second-last home run of his big league career to date. On August 8, 2020, in front of a backdrop of cardboard fan cutouts, Santana cracked a slider from Steve Cishek with an exit velocity of 110.9 mph, sending the baseball 454 feet to two-thirds of the way up the bleachers in left-center field. It was his first of two home runs in 2020.

10 (t). Joey Gallo — 454 feet

The next of the 454-foot home runs on our list comes off the bat of Joey Gallo — at 112.7 mph, to be specific. The outfielder hit this home run on June 30, 2017, against Mike Pelfrey. Gallo lifted a slider high above Guaranteed Rate Field, driving the baseball to the bleachers in left-center field. The blast was Gallo’s 21st of the year.

10 (t). José Abreu — 454 feet

José Abreu concludes our four-way tie for 10th spot with a blast that came on July 27, 2017, against the Cubs. Jon Lester left a curveball in the center of the strike zone, which Abreu smoked 454 feet with an exit velocity of 108.1 mph. The baseball flew high and deep, traveling all the way to the top of the seats in left-center field for Abreu’s 17th home run of a 33-home run season.

7 (t). Billy Butler — 456 feet

Former big leaguer Billy Butler hit 147 home runs during his 10-year MLB career, including a memorable blast on the South Side in 2015. Butler hammered a fastball from Erik Johnson at an exit velocity of 108 mph, sending the baseball deep into the left-center field seats, 456 feet from home plate. (No video available.)

7 (t). Jake Burger — 456 feet

Infielder Jake Burger will always remember the home run he hit in Chicago on July 17, 2021, but not necessarily because of how far it traveled. The round tripper in question, which came against Austin Pruitt, was Burger’s first big league home run. He jumped all over an inside fastball, pounding it 456 feet with an exit velocity of 115.2 mph. The baseball left the yard in a hurry, ending up deep in the left field seats.

7 (t). Aaron Judge — 456 feet

Aaron Judge hit 62 home runs during a record-breaking 2022 season, including a memorable South Side blast on May 12. White Sox pitcher Ryan Burr threw an inside fastball with a full count to Judge, and the outfielder smashed the baseball 456 feet for his 11th home run of the season. Leaving Judge’s bat at 114 mph, the baseball landed at the top of the left-center field seats.

6. Yasmani Grandal — 457 feet

Yasmani Grandal’s seventh home run of 2021 is currently the sixth-longest home run at Guaranteed Rate Field in the Statcast era. The catcher jumped all over a slider from Detroit’s Casey Mize, connecting with an exit velocity of 110 mph and sending the ball 457 feet deep into the seats in right-center field. Grandal hit 23 dingers in 2021, but none traveled farther than this one.

5. Nelson Cruz — 458 feet

With notable tape measure blasts at several MLB parks, including Fenway Park and Minute Maid Park, Nelson Cruz is no stranger to the long ball. His longest home run at Guaranteed Rate Field came on July 28, 2019, against Lucas Giolito. Cruz smoked a fastball 458 feet to the concourse behind the seats in left-center field. The home run, Cruz’s 23rd of the season, had an exit velocity of 113.1 mph.

3 (t). Yoán Moncada — 462 feet

Yoán Moncada is approaching 100 career home runs as of the end of 2022, but none has flown farther than the one he hit on the South Side on July 3, 2019. Moncada crushed a cut fastball from Shane Greene with an exit velocity of 113.9 mph, sending the ball high into the Chicago night and tying up a game that the White Sox were trailing by a run in the 10th inning. The baseball landed deep in the seats in right-center field, 462 feet from home plate.

3 (t). Eloy Jiménez — 462 feet

White Sox slugger Eloy Jiménez hit 31 home runs as a rookie in 2019, and his first in his home ballpark is one of the most memorable. On June 11, Jiménez cracked a fastball from Patrick Corbin 462 feet with an exit velocity of 110.8 mph. The baseball landed in a spot that players rarely even reach in batting practice — the standing room space above the batter’s eye. This blast missed being Jiménez’s longest of the season by just two feet.

2. Nelson Cruz — 469 feet

Less than a month before his 458-foot shot that ranks fifth on this list, Nelson Cruz hit another tape measure home run in Chicago. This one, which came on June 29, 2019 against José Ruiz, was Cruz’s 15th of the campaign. He connected on a high fastball and drove the ball 469 feet with an exit velocity of 112.4 mph. The baseball ended up in the camera bay atop the batter’s eye.

1. Yermín Mercedes — 485 feet

The longest home run of the Statcast era at Guaranteed Rate Field belongs to Yermín Mercedes, thanks to a tape measure shot on April 8, 2021. Mercedes connected with a low slider from Brad Keller, lifting the ball high in the sky and sending it off the video board above the concourse in left-center field. The home run measured 485 feet and left Mercedes’s bat at 113.3 mph.
